More or less I've been on a bizarre schedule the last couple of days, due to work and all the roommate searching. I'll work for a huge long jog, then sleep for a few hours, look at rooms/make calls, sleep again for a few hours, work again, etc. I feel fine even though I've had a series of short naps rather than a solid block of sleep. Odd, because I normally hate that groggy feeling napping gives.
Anyway, I woke up at something like midnight last night to get something finished by 9:00 AM this morning, then instead of sensibly going to bed, I let myself get drawn into a couple of debates with my mother and grandmother, tried to figure out what to do with my grandmother's about-to-expire timeshare, had something to eat, then made the mistake of sitting down to make some calls to people in the new Pennysaver (published today), which of course meant that I was either talking to people or they were calling me back the rest of the afternoon. I have some good prospects for tomorrow, although as always, there seems to be a perfect balance of good to drawbacks.
I took another napped, worked on the very brief project I was sent (even though I requested more), and then went out sort of last-minute with
bongirl5. We had dinner at the local 24 hour greasy spoon, where she complained about trying to get the material for her immigration appeal together and I complained about the parade of freaks I've been seeing in my quest for a place to live. Still, it was nice to be out.
We even wandered down to the Dana Point Harbor, and took a very, very brief walk out to the jetty. It was cold and I was wearing socks with my Doc sandals (laziness knows no bounds), so it was sort of hard to walk along having to grip at my shoes with my toes, but worth it to sit on the bench, watching the night time waves break, and looking at what stars we could see through the light pollution. Nice evening.
I have some more places to see tomorrow...let's hope the freak parade has turned the corner. I'm sort of bummed because that's
merrygentry's day off and I'd like to accompany her and Bonnie antique browsing, but...having a roof over my head come April Fool's is a bit more important. And antique shops sort of creep me out. I don't like the chaos of them (even if they're well laid out). I like bright, clean stores with lots of bright, new, clean stuff to look at...
